Whirlpool Stove Instructions
With a reputation for solid construction, reliability and affordable pricing, Whirlpool is one of the most popular brands of home appliances available in the United States. Whirlpool's combination stovetop and oven units are simple to use and have a variety of features to keep both the novice and professional cook satisfied.
Use
Operating Whirlpool gas or electric cooktops and ovens is simple. To use your electric cooktop, push in on the control knobs and turn to set the temperature between "Lo" and "Hi". Light the flame on Whirlpool gas cooktops by pushing in on the control knobs and turning the counter-clockwise. Once the flame is lit, turn the knobs clockwise to adjust the temperature between the "High" and "Low" settings, as desired. Learning to use the oven is a bit more involved, though the process to access its various features follows an easy-to-remember pattern. Many Whirlpool stove models include electronic oven controls, making the controls the same for both gas and electric ranges in most cases. Simply press the appropriate button for the feature you want to access, and then use the "+" and "-" buttons to increase and decrease the number values. For example, to set the clock, press the "Clock" button, followed by the "Time/Temp" button; use the "+" and "-" buttons to set the clock to the desired time. When you are finished, press the "Start" button to save your setting. Use the same process to set the oven temperature and timer.
Care and Maintenance
Proper care and maintenance will help ensure that your Whirlpool stove continues to function at its best. Keeping your stove as clean as possible can even help it to heat more evenly. To clean everyday dirt and grime, wipe the outer surface of the stove with a soft cloth that has been dampened with a solution of warm water and mild soap. Only use nonabrasive scrubbing pads when cleaning the outside of your stove to avoid scratching the porcelain enamel surface. To use the oven steam-cleaning feature in Whirlpool electric ranges, first remove all oven racks and accessories. Press the "Steam Clean" button and then pour 10 ounces of water on the floor of the oven. Press the "Start" button to activate the self-cleaning cycle. At the end of the cycle, press the "Cancel/Off" button. Whirlpool gas ranges often have a similar self-cleaning cycle. To use the self-cleaning oven feature on your Whirlpool gas range, press the "Self Clean" button and then use the "+" and "-" buttons to set a timer for how long you want the oven to clean. At the end of the self-cleaning cycle, use a damp cloth to remove the ash in the bottom of the oven.
Safety Tips
Always follow the appropriate safety precautions when operating your Whirlpool gas or electric stove. Safety precautions include allowing the stove's surface to cool before touching it. Be aware that the stovetop surface and oven interior remains hot enough to cause serious burns for several minutes after being turned off. Install the anti-tip bracket included with your stove according to package directions to reduce the risk of tipping injury. Once installed, the anti-tip bracket will prevent the stove from tipping in normal circumstances, though exerting too much pressure on an open oven door may still cause the appliance to tip. Whirlpool gas stoves require additional safety precautions. Never store flammable liquids in the vicinity of your gas stove. If you smell gas, do not attempt to operate the stove. Do not turn on any lights in your home or use the phone. Go to a neighbor's home to call your gas supplier or fire department.
