How To Get Olive Oil Off Of A Floor
Things Needed
-
Paper towels
-
Water
-
Dish soap
-
White vinegar
When preparing food with olive oil, you sometimes end up with some of the oil on your floor. Whether you have a few drops or a large olive oil spill, you want to remove the oil as quickly as possible. The oil is a greasy, slippery texture that turns your floor into a safety hazard, allowing for the possibility that someone could walk across the floor and slip or fall. Removing the oil can be done with a few inexpensive household items.
Step 1
Collect as much of the oil as possible with paper towels. Scoop up thicker oil residue and blot over light oil spills.
Step 2
Fill the sink with 1 gallon hot water, 2 tbsp. dish soap and 1 cup white vinegar. The soap and vinegar mixture cut through and remove the olive oil, and diluting the solution makes the cleaner safe for any floor type.
Step 3
Dip a handful of paper towels into the liquid and wipe over the floor. Continue until all greasy oil residue is removed.
Step 4
Wipe the floor with a damp paper towel and dry with a clean paper towel.
