How To Make Homemade Furniture Sliders
Things Needed

-
1 foot square foam padding, 1/2-inch thick
-
Razor blade or small saw
-
Fine-grit sandpaper
Moving furniture, especially large pieces, is often the biggest hassle of household projects. Furniture sliders are an effective way to slide heavy objects around your home with minimal effort. Sliders fit under the legs or corners of heavy furniture and can be pushed over hardwood, carpet and laminate flooring. They are decidedly low-tech, but furniture sliders can prevent back injuries and other bodily harm caused by heavy lifting. While sliders can be purchased at home improvement stores, it's easy to make your own.
Step 1
Cut the plastic into quarters. Sand the sharp edges down with sandpaper to avoid scratching walls, floors or yourself.
Step 2
Cut the foam padding into quarters.
Step 3
Glue the foam to the pieces of plastic. The foam and plastic should be the same size. Let the pieces dry overnight before using them to move furniture.
Tip
Four furniture sliders are adequate for moving one large piece of furniture. If you need more sliders, repeat the steps above as desired.
Warning
Always be cautious when working with sharp blades. Cut away from your body at all times.
