How To Clean Smelly Shower Caps
Things Needed
-
White vinegar
-
Liquid dish soap
Shower caps are useful for keeping your hair dry while you bathe, but they also can collect unpleasant odors over time. Dirt and oil from your hair can contribute to a smelly shower cap. Another common culprit is mildew, which often grows on surfaces that are frequently exposed to warmth and humidity. If you don't get rid of the smells in your shower cap, you may walk out of your bathroom with a smelly head as well. Clean your shower cap regularly using a natural, inexpensive odor neutralizer and mildew remover.
Step 1
Fill a clean sink or basin with enough white vinegar to cover your shower cap.
Step 2
Place the shower cap into the vinegar. Push the cap down so that it is completely covered by the vinegar. Leave the cap in the vinegar for 15 to 20 minutes.
Step 3
Remove the cap from the vinegar and squirt a drop or two of liquid dish soap into the shower cap.
Step 4
Rub the material of the cap together to scrub off any lingering residue.
Step 5
Rinse the cap well and hang it to dry in a well-ventilated area.
