How To Use An Mpi Monitor 441 Heater

Tip

If your heater shows a temperature four degrees (Automatic) or 12 degrees (Economy Plus) higher than your set temperature, don't worry—the unit heats a room to a temperature hotter than the set temperature to maintain constant room temperature between circulation fan shut down (cooling) and startup (reheating). To revert to Manual Mode and/or turn off multiple Automatic Mode settings, press the "Automatic" button once. If done correctly, the Automatic indicator light should turn off.

If you want to save on energy, decrease electrical consumption or reduce the heat loss issues caused during startup and shutdown, press the "Economy Plus" button on the unit in Manual Mode to turn on the Economy Plus Mode feature.

If you experience technical issues with your Monitor 441 heater, turn off the unit without unplugging it, then call MPI at 800-524-1102.

Warning

Never press the fuel set lever more than three times as you can overfill the constant level valve inside the unit, potentially causing damage or fire danger.

Always clean your M441 unit regularly to decrease the chance of a debris-caused fire hazard. In addition, never dry clothing on the heater as doing so could burn or ignite the clothing.

Always use crystal clear kerosene to fuel your heater. Never use white gas, camp-style fuels, gasoline or other highly flammable liquids as doing so can cause an explosion or injury to yourself or others.

Since 1984, Monitor Products, Inc. (MPI) has offered a wide range of home heating solutions including gas-, oil- and kerosene-fueled heaters. In 1994, MPI began selling the Monitor 441 (M441) kerosene-fueled heating system to replace the Monitor 41 (M41) heater introduced in 1988. MPI designed the Monitor 441 for ease-of-use—giving customers a clearly labeled console on the main in-room unit and push button controls for multiple heat output and air circulation adjustments.

Step 1

Plug in your MPI Monitor 441 heater.

Step 2

Prepare the heater for use by priming it. Press the fuel set lever located on the right side of the cabinet (near the bottom) two or three times.

Step 3

Depress the "ON/OFF" button on the main console to start the unit. If done correctly, the console will light up in various areas, and ignition will start in approximately three minutes. After another five to 10 minutes, the circulation fan will begin pushing warm air through the cabinet grille into the room.

Step 4

Adjust the temperature manually in two-degree increments by pushing the "Up" and "Down" buttons on the console.

Step 5

Program the clock. Press the "Time Selector" button. When you see "88:88" on the LED display, press the "Hour" button repeatedly until you reach the correct (a.m. or p.m.) hour setting. Repeat with the "Minute" button then press the "Set" button to lock in the time.

Step 6

Add more than one Automatic Mode time and temperature. Press the "Time" button. Press and program the "Hour" and "Minute" buttons respectively to set the first time, then press "Set" to lock in the time. Press the "Temp" button. Press the "Up" and "Down" buttons to program your desired room temperature, then press "Set" again. Repeat up to three more times to add up to four total automatic heat settings. If at any time you make a mistake, press the "Clear" button.
