How To Enter Whirlpool Duet Dryer Diagnostics
When your Whirlpool Duet dryer suddenly quits working correctly, you need to figure out where the problem is inside the dryer. One way to narrow down the search for the problem is through process of elimination. It is possible to determine if the control board is an issue by entering the Whirlpool Duet dryer diagnostics. This gives an overall check of the control board electronics and their related components. This is one of the first tests that a trained service professional performs on the unit.
Step 1
Check that your Whirlpool Duet dryer's power cord is plugged completely into a working outlet. The dryer should not be in a cycle while you're performing diagnostics testing, and the indicator lights should not be illuminated.
Step 2
Locate the "More Time" and "Less Time" push buttons on the control console. These buttons are to the right of the selector switch and under the "Estimated Time Remaining" display screen.
Step 3
Press and release the buttons in the following sequence within five seconds: "More Time," "Less Time," "More Time" and "Less Time."
Step 4
Check that all of the indicator lights are illuminated and the "Estimated Time Remaining" display shows "88." If one or more of the lights are not illuminating, there is an issue with the unlit component or the circuit board.
