How To Remove The Whirlpool Duet Lower Access Panel
Things Needed
-
2 wood blocks, 2-by-4s, 6 inches long
-
Helper
-
Nut driver
Tip
Installing the lower access panel is the reverse of removing it from the Duet washer.
Although the Whirlpool Duet washer is a dependable appliance, parts wear out or need adjustments. The water pump assembly, drain hose and motor control unit on the Whirlpool Duet are accessible through the lower access panel. Removing the Whirlpool Duet lower access panel involves lifting the front of the washer off the floor. The Duet has retaining screws on the lower edge of the access panel that are difficult to access with the washer on the floor.
Step 1
Unplug the Whirlpool Duet washer power cord from the electrical outlet.
Step 2
Lift the front of the washer and place a block of wood on each side 6 inches from the front of the washer. Gently lower the washer onto the wood blocks. Ask a friend to help lift the washer while you position the wood blocks.
Step 3
Remove the three hex-head screws along the bottom edge of the toe panel with a nut driver.
Step 4
Grab the ends of the Whirlpool Duet lower access panel and lift the panel straight up. Pull the lower part of the panel away from the washer and remove it completely.
