How To Remove Gorilla Glue From Carpet

Things Needed

  • Sandpaper

  • Vacuum with upholstery attachment

  • Isopropyl alcohol

  • Small bowl

  • Cloth

  • Paint thinner

  • Rubber gloves

Gorilla Glue is a popular all-purpose adhesive that is known to create strong bonds on just about any surface. Gorilla Glue is both heat- and cold-resistant and waterproof which makes it a tough adhesive that is difficult to remove. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon to accidentally drip or spill Gorilla Glue on carpets. When Gorilla Glue lands on your carpet, act quickly by wiping it up with a damp cloth. Otherwise, the glue will dry into the fibers of the carpet making removal more difficult but not impossible.

Step 1

Rub the dried glue with a piece of sandpaper. Continue rubbing until you have sanded down the dried glue.

Step 2

Secure the upholstery attachment to your vacuum. Vacuum up the dust and debris created from the sanding.

Step 3

Pour isopropyl alcohol into a small bowl or container.

Step 4

Dip a white cloth into the isopropyl alcohol.

Step 5

Rub the glue vigorously with the cloth. Dip the cloth into the alcohol if it becomes dry.

Step 6

Continue rubbing until you have removed the glue from the carpet.

Step 7

Alternatively, rub the carpet with a cloth saturated in paint thinner. Make sure you work in a well-ventilated area and wear rubber gloves when using paint thinner.
