How To Get Rid Of Skunk Smell Under A Car

Things Needed

  • 1 gallon distilled vinegar

  • 1 cup liquid dish detergent

  • Garden sprayer

Tip

Do not spray tomato juice underneath your car. It will not get rid of the skunk odor.

Skunks are black with a white strip down their middle. They look cute and fuzzy, but they have the ability to stink you off of your property. Skunks actually squirt an oily liquid out of their anal scent gland. This oily liquid lingers in the air and creates an unpleasant smell that sends anyone in the area running the other way. Skunks spray this liquid when they get scared. If a skunk sprayed under your car, you will need to make and apply a solution to get your car smelling clean and fresh again.

Step 1

Measure and pour the distilled vinegar into a garden sprayer.

Step 2

Add liquid dish detergent to the garden sprayer. Then combine the two ingredients.

Step 3

With the garden sprayer, begin spraying underneath and all around the car. Be liberal with your spray. You may want to keep spraying until you run out of the homemade odor eliminator.

Step 4

Repeat one hour later if the smell remains.

Step 5

If the car that was skunked is one you do not use often, you can simply place some charcoal on a tarp and slide it under the car. The charcoal will absorb the foul odor.
