Bissell DirtLifter PowerBrush Operating Instructions
Freshly vacuumed carpet is an inviting, cozy experience for all who walk upon it. But no matter how diligently you vacuum your carpeted floors, dirt, stains, and debris eventually settle in and require a deeper clean. The Bissell DirtLifter PowerBrush is compatible with nine different Bissell cleaning appliances, and it's the tool you need to make easy work of carpet shampooing and deep cleaning.
How to Use a Bissell DirtLifter PowerBrush
1. Prepare the Carpet
Before you put your Bissell DirtLifter PowerBrush to use, you'll need to make sure the room is ready. Move all furniture out of the way and complete a thorough dry vacuum of the area you'll be shampooing.
2. Ready the Bissell Appliance
There are several knobs and levers you'll need to operate for the PowerBrush to work properly. First, make sure you've poured a suitable cleaning fluid and water into the tank. Bissell only recommends the cleaning formulas it manufactures, and the company warns against using other formulas in case of internal damage to the machine.
Next, plug the appliance into a convenient outlet. If your machine has a dial, turn it to the floor cleaning setting. You'll turn on the machine by depressing the red power lever with your foot. Recline the machine with the gray lever.
3. Shampoo the Carpet
Depress the spray trigger near the handle of the Bissell appliance as you slowly move the machine forward for a wet pass. While being cautious not to saturate the carpet, continue the motion backward while holding down the spray trigger. Release the trigger and slowly complete a forward and backward motion over the wet area. These dry passes make sure to suction up any remaining dirty water in the carpet's fibers. Keep doing dry passes until you can see that no more water is entering the Bissell appliance.
Repeat this process along as much of the carpet as needed. Your DirtLifter PowerBrush will handle the heavy-duty deep cleaning as you move along, leaving your carpet like new.
Troubleshooting the Bissell DirtLifter PowerBrush
Whether you're using a Bissell PowerLifter or the Bissell Proheat Essential, the DirtLifter PowerBrush is the technology that scrubs deep into the carpet for a thorough clean. After some use, you may find that the PowerBrush stops spinning, which requires fixing to properly clean the carpet of dirt, dust, hair, and debris. First, inspect the roller for any items that may be locking the roller in place, such as tightly entwined hairs, and clear the obstruction.
If the PowerBrush rolls when you manually turn it but not when the Bissell appliance is on, then you'll need to further troubleshoot your Bissell. A broken belt, for example, could be the cause of a PowerBrush that has stopped rotating.
