How To Remove Sweat Stains From A Leather Sofa
Things Needed
-
Dish detergent
-
Warm water
-
Sponge
-
Soft cloth
-
Leather conditioner
A downside of leather is that the material is more difficult to clean than standard fabric furnishings. When stains like sweat tarnish a piece of leather furniture, special measures must be taken to remove the stains.
Step 1
Mix 1 tsp. mild dishwashing detergent in 1 qt. warm, but not hot, water. Work the mixture into a lather by swirling a hand in the water.
Step 2
Dip a sponge into the lather. Don't dip down into the water. If the sponge get wet, ring excess water from it and redip just into the soap bubbles.
Step 3
Rub the lather directly onto the sweat stains in a circular motion. Scrub until the stain disappears.
Step 4
Wipe the leather dry with a soft, clean cloth. If any stain remains, repeat Steps 2 through 4.
Step 5
Finish by applying a leather conditioner to the area that was cleaned. The cleaning process may strip oils from the leather, making it likely to crack or discolor. Leather conditioner will protect against these problems.
