Warning

Test all products in an inconspicuous area of your siding to make sure they don't damage vinyl siding.

Paint thinner, undiluted chlorine bleach, nail polish remover, furniture cleaner, or spot remover can damage your vinyl siding's surface.

Vinyl siding is durable, easy to keep looking good, and holds its color well. It looks as good as new with a thorough washing once a year. But sometimes stains can discolor your vinyl siding and can be hard to remove without damaging or discoloring your siding. Stain can be spilled or splattered onto siding, and when you're staining an attached deck or a nearby fence, wind and weather can spread the stain to your vinyl siding. Wood stain is one of the most difficult stains to remove, but a variety of products will take wood stain off your vinyl siding without harming it.

Step 1

Put on rubber gloves. Mix 3/4 cup of oxalic acid granules and 1 gallon of hot water. Apply the mixture to the stain and let it set for 5 minutes. Scrub the wood stain from the vinyl siding with a soft sponge.

Step 2

Soak the stain with hot, soapy water to soften it. Scrub the siding with an SOS pad.

Step 3

Spray the stain with a product such as Krud Kutter original full strength, Lift Off Graffiti Remover, or The Stripper. Let it set for 10 seconds, then wipe it away.

Step 4

Apply a cleaner containing pine oil such as Pine-Sol or Simple Green. Leave it on for 10 minutes, then scrub it off with a soft bristled brush.

Step 5

Use a deck stain remover such as Olympic. Apply it to the stain and wipe it off with a soft rag.

Step 6

Put an orange oil-based cleaner such as Orange Gojoo hand cleaner on the stain. Rub the spot with a clean rag. The pumice in the hand cleaner helps remove the stain without damaging vinyl siding.

Step 7

Apply PVC Clear Pipe Cleaner to the wood stain. Vinyl siding is made of polyvinyl chloride, which is the same thing PVC pipe is made of. You can find it in the plumbing department of your local home improvement store.

Step 8

Squirt Goo Gone directly on the stain and wait 5 minutes. Rub the stain away with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. You can also apply Windex to your vinyl siding and rub the stain with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.
