No lawn or garden design is complete without lighting, accessories or yard art to create a unique atmosphere. Strong garden decor such as obelisks, statues and urns can offer a focal resting place and create an interesting view. Try this simple 'make at home' idea for easy garden ornaments. Then look around your garden for a bare spot or an area that simply needs jazzing up and let your creativity inspire you.
Step 1
Lightly coat the first ball with liquid glue, roll it in colorful, festive glitter and let dry.
Step 2
Once completely dry, coat the ball with a weatherproof sealant and let harden.
Step 3
Repeat these steps on a variety of ball sizes using complementary colors of glitter.
Step 4
Wrap the finished balls with thin wire and hang them from trees to create a focal point in the back yard. It's best to cluster the balls together (among trees that are in close proximity of each other) for maximum visual impact.
Step 5
Next, add string lights to warm and enhance the ball-art and dramatically accent your selected focal point. Lighting dances off the glitter balls creating a festive, lovely atmosphere.
Step 6
Place decorative stones in the bottom of hurricanes or vases, fill with water and add a floating candle for even greater impact. Alternatively you can use luminaries in colors that compliment the hanging balls. Strategically place hurricanes/luminaries to emphasize the garden design.
