So THIS Is Why Your IKEA Mug Has A Little Chip On The Bottom
Have you ever noticed that sometimes on the bottom of your mug — but especially IKEA mugs — there's a little notch/chip at the base? What's up with that?
Leave it to those Swedes to think of everything. Turns out, that little cutout actually serves a purpose. According to the product description of IKEA's Vardagen mug, it's a "drainage gate."
"The drainage gates on the underside transport water away that may otherwise accumulate when the mug is upside down in the dishwasher," the site reads.
Well, now. That certainly makes sense!
