Our Latest Hunker House Bedroom Design Brings The Sunshine In
As the winter season brings darker, shorter days, we find ourselves treasuring natural light more than ever. So, for our most recent makeover at Hunker House, we let the sunshine in — in more ways than one. Building a fresh palette of neutrals, earthy botanicals, and bright ochre, we created a bedroom that makes the most of the light.
The first order of business: swap out our roller blinds for LEVOLOR's motorized cellular shades. We love that they confer privacy while letting in so much light. Plus, the clean, geometric design works perfectly in our modern space.
For the rest of the scheme, we brought together elements from multiple design styles — a nod to desert chic, a splash of modern farmhouse, and, of course, plants aplenty.
Of course, the focal point of the bedroom is the bed itself. We started with a neutral black-and-cream palette, then piled on the pillows in a multitude of textures for maximum coziness. the quilt, in a bright, warm yellow, has the dual effect of warming up and brightening the space, and we love the fresh take on a classic, thanks to a triangle pattern and cotton jersey fabric.
But maybe the best moment was a stroke of inspiration from Noel, our genius stylist. Instead of going with the obvious framed artwork, he opted for this gorgeous bouquet of dried botanicals above the nightstand — an easy, arresting, 3D work of organic art that balances the harder edges of the design.
Stylish, relaxed, and undeniably sunny — a bedroom to get us through the winter months and beyond.
