These Solid Surface Kitchen Countertops Are Surprisingly Chic

We are all for luxe countertop materials. Marble. Quartz. Slate. Sign us up. But then again, we also love ease and durability, and that's where solid surface countertops come in.

A solid surface countertop is made up of nonporous material that looks like stone but isn't. Some solid surface countertops can be mostly the real deal, like Caesarstone that's 93% quartz mixed with polymers and pigments, but a lot of them are indeed faux.

Some of the pros of solid surface countertops include heightened durability, a nonporous surface that won't soak up stains as easily and keeps bacteria at bay, and a ton of color and finish choices. There are some cons, though, like vulnerability to scratches and dings, and they can be damaged by hot objects if you're not careful.

According to HomeAdvisor, currently, solid surface countertops can cost anywhere from $52 to $120 per square foot, making it a super economical choice if you're keeping a budget in mind.

As for maintenance, it's a breeze. All solid surface countertops require are a damp cloth, or in the case of spills or stains, a little dish soap and water.

Now that we've sold you on the virtues of a solid surface countertop, see them in action in these stylish kitchens.

1. A solid surface countertop looks great with colorful cabinets.

Solid surface countertops often come in standard colors (like bright white in the case of Emily Henderson's kitchen) that effortlessly team up with bold cabinet colors. Here, we are loving the combination of the white solid surface countertop with the blue cabinets.

2. They come in a wide range of colors.

Like we said, you can get virtually any desired color when it comes to solid surface countertops. We particularly dig this shade of gray seen in a kitchen belonging to Maria of Two Peas & Their Pod.

3. Pair solid surface countertops with brass accents.

So, maybe you're drawn to solid surface countertops because you want to save some money while renovating your kitchen. That's more than OK, because you can still add luxe touches here and there to elevate the look. We recommend pairing a solid surface countertop with brass details, like lights and cabinet pulls, seen in this kitchen styled by Sarah of Bubbly & Blooms.

4. Choose a marbled look.

Marble is a splurge in a kitchen, but luckily, you can achieve those same elegant aesthetics with a marbled solid surface countertop. Kimberly of Swoon Worthy chose a gray and white marbled Caesarstone for her kitchen, and the result is gorgeous.

5. They work perfectly as a neutral.

If you'd like to add a few pops of color to your kitchen, allow us to recommend a solid surface countertop in a neutral shade. For example, in this cook space belonging to Krista of The Happy Housie, a white solid surface countertop serves as an ideal backdrop against blue, yellow, and warm wood hues.
