A Commercial Convinced Me I Had To Have This Soap

It's been a long time since an actual commercial convinced me to buy something, but I recently experienced the unmistakable pull of consumerism and good marketing a few weeks ago after my husband and I witnessed an ad several times for Dawn's Platinum Powerwash Dish Soap. We literally sat there and OOOOooooh-ed out loud in unison.

The selling points? It's a "spray" (ooh, haven't seen that before!) wash that cuts down scrubbing time. The suds start cutting grease immediately, so all you have to do is spray and rinse for easy messes. For tough grime, spray, leave it on for a few minutes, then marvel as you don't have to break your back scrubbing a burnt pan.

I don't actually do dishes (I cook, he cleans). But my husband, weirdo that he is, LOVES doing dishes. I have never seen him more excited about a cleaning product. When I asked him today how he's liking the spray he said, "It's brilliant," then rushed to the cabinet to show me a pan he'd washed last night. "I almost woke you up last night to show you how amazingly clean this pan is. Like, it's SHINY. Isn't that great? Isn't it amazing?"

I was silent as I came to the realization that we are indeed very different people. Regardless, I'm glad that a dish soap can make a man so happy. His only critique? He doesn't love the smell, which is very strong and fragrant. We typically use unscented dish soap, so we both find the Dawn Powerwash smell a bit unpleasant. The good news is that unlike other scented dish soaps, the fragrance doesn't seem to attach itself to your pans and dishes after they dry. (Nothing worse than heating up a pan you hand-washed to find it's giving off the aroma of "Fresh Meadow.")

So, moral of the story is: Whether you love or hate doing dishes, Dawn's Platinum Powerwash Dish Soap is actually pretty damn good. And FYI, this post is totally unsponsored. We just really like the stuff.
