The 11 Best IKEA Releases Of 2020

IKEA has given us a lot to be inspired by this year. To celebrate, we're rounding up our favorite 2020 releases — in case you're looking to gift yourself some home goods for the new year. We can't want to see what the retailer will offer us all in 2021.

1. Micke Desk, $49

2. Gunrid Air-Purifying Curtains (sold out)

Earlier this year, IKEA released its very first air-purifying curtains. Though they are currently sold out, we'll be keeping our eyes peeled for another release.

3. Knorva Hat, $3.99

Back in June, IKEA turned its signature bag into a bucket hat and you can snag your own for only $3.99.

4. Simrishamn Table/Wall Lamp, $24.99

In July, we fell in love with IKEA's Simrishamn series featuring globe-shaped bulbs along with chrome-plated curved arms and bases.

5. Chilipulver Plant-Watering Sensor, $4.99

This battery-operated sensor flashes when your plant is thirsty. Genius. Fortunately, IKEA released this one back in March — just in time for our pandemic plant obsession.

6. Botanisk Hanging Planter (sold out)

Speaking of plants, in early March, IKEA debuted its Botanisk collection to add to the fun of indoor gardening. It would seem this series was a hit because all the items are unfortunately sold out.

7. IKEA 365+ Ice Pack, $1.99

IKEA reinvented the ice pack in May when it unveiled this design, which comes with a strap that allows you to attach it to a container. Goodbye, strapless ice packs!

8. Gräsmarö Three-in-One Gardening Tool (sold out)

At the start of May, IKEA released a three-in-one gardening tool perfect for gardeners who are just beginning their plant journey. Sadly, and understandably, it is now sold out.

9. Efterträda Clothing Collection

While this collection was only released in Japan, it was definitely a standout 2020 IKEA release. (And the U.S. did get the above Knorva bucket hat!)

10. Bygglek 201-Piece Lego Brick Set, $14.99

In October, IKEA and LEGO teamed up to create the Bygglek collection, which includes storage boxes you can build your LEGO creations in, on, or around.

11. Frekvens LED multi-use light (no longer available)

To start the year off right, in January 2020, IKEA collaborated with Swedish electronics company Teenage Engineering to unveil the Frekvens collection. The limited-edition series featured sound and light systems for all the dance parties we dreamed of throwing this year.
