6 Months Later, I'm Still Obsessed With This Beyond-Perfect Mattress

This past summer, my husband and I welcomed a joyous new addition to our family: our new Parachute mattress.

In the seven years we've been together, we'd never had a "nice" mattress. When we met, I was still on the IKEA mattress of my twenties; at one point, we swapped that for a hand-me-down from my sister. But this was the year we decided to act more like grown-ups and start sleeping like grown-ups. For too long, we had been waking up with aches and pains and tossing and turning so much we were keeping each other up.

From the moment we laid down on the Parachute mattress, it was clear we had wasted FAR too many nights on bad sleep, and literally, within a few days ALL of our body aches disappeared.

So what makes me so enamored with this mattress? It's the plush, luxurious feel. I think most people tend to like firm mattresses, and while I would have been in that camp pre-Parachute, I've come to understand how important it is to have that cloud-like moment when you get in bed. I'd say the mattress is "medium-firm" — you can feel that the base is sturdy but it has soft coils near the head and foot that give you that "sinking in" feeling. Plus, there's a small top layer that feels slightly plush.

Six months on, at least once a week, my husband and I get into bed and just go, "Oh my god, this BED!" Parachute has fully convinced me to never skimp on a mattress again (the Queen size retails at $1,899); I'm already looking forward to the day that we can upgrade our Queen to a King, and when that day comes, it will absolutely be a Parachute mattress, with no expense spared.
