Cheers to Dollar Tree crafts! For this cost-effective project, we're heading to the drinkware aisle to grab stemless wine glasses. That's what the creator behind Cozy DIY Home uses as the base for her homemade Dollar Tree lamp. She adds a metal candle holder as a makeshift harp for the wicker basket shade, all of which she picked up at the discount store. The light source is a strand of LED string lights. When it's all assembled, the DIY is a cute, boho-chic lamp.

This project is proof that table lamps don't have to be expensive. The stemless wine glasses at Dollar Tree are $1.50 each — you need one per lamp. The simple, curved silhouette and clear design create a classic, airy lamp base. Next up is the black metal pedestal candle holder, which is $1.25 — it creates a sturdy support system for the lamp since it's made of thick metal. While the basket used in the original isn't available online, you might find something similar at your local store. Or, check secondhand shops for small wicker baskets with a slightly tapered shape that resemble lamp shades.

Ambient lighting, task lighting, and accent lighting work together to make your home cozy — this DIY lamp fits into the accent light category. It won't kick out enough light for practical purposes, but it will add a warm glow to a corner. Even better, since it's cordless, this accent lamp can go anywhere in your home, regardless of outlet locations. It's also compact, so you don't need a lot of space. But it will make a big impact on your design aesthetic with different textures and a modern look.

Assemble a wine glass lamp with Dollar Tree items

For a sleek, simple look, leave the wine glass plain. Or, give the glass a vintage makeover with a tinted look using Mod Podge and food coloring. A frosted look is also a modern option — products like Gallery Glass Frosted Clear Paint make the effect simple to achieve. The candle holder comes in black, but you can spray paint it a metallic shade to coordinate with your decor. Or, paint the glass and candle holder the same color to make it look like all one piece. Once you're happy with the look of the glass and candle holder, glue the candle holder base onto the open top of the glass for the body of the lamp.

To add the lights, wrap the wire strand around the oval center of the candle holder. Check the lights for even placement to balance the illumination. The Dollar Tree lights use two AA batteries that go into a small battery pack — place that on top of the candle holder where the candle would normally go to keep it out of sight. For different lighting options, upgrade to these Osteplus Fairy Lights, which have three light modes. Or, choose a strand with different light color options. Then, simply balance the basket upside down on top of the candle holder.

You can add some finishing touches to update the look. A small knob or decorative element on top acts as a finial for the DIY lamp. Glue a piece of twine or thick cording around the top edge to create a more defined line. Fringe glued along the bottom edge incorporates another texture and additional dimension to the display.
